Meet the FISU World Championships Climbing Team members from CU Climbing who will be competing in Koper, Slovenia this fall!
Meet the Team: CU Climbing Worlds Team
Earlier this year USA Climbing hosted their collegiate nationals event in Alta, AZ. This was an opportunity for many of our collegiate climbers to make the FISU Worlds team - the top 5 athletes per gender, per discipline (speed, sport, and bouldering).
You can check out more details from USAC Collegiate Nationals here (our news post from Nationals) and view results here (USAC Results page).
The US Collegiate team comprises many athletes from across the country, but five are close in our hearts and compete for the University of Colorado Boulder.
The CU athletes below qualified to represent the U.S. in the following disciplines:
Tate Jennings: Women's Lead and Bouldering
Anika Shoemaker: Women's Lead
Jacob Kelleghan: Men's Lead
Samuel Hsin: Men's Lead
Matthew Sherman: Men's Bouldering
We are extremely proud of these athletes. Their dedication to competitive climbing and drive to be the best is truly unmatched. That being said - competitive climbing is often an expensive sport and the cost of travel, lodging, training, etc. adds up quickly. Below is a GoFundMe Link for the CU Athletes traveling to the FISU Games: any donation is greatly appreciated and goes towards furthering these athletes' goal of becoming a FISU World Champion!
