"We strive to build and maintain a community of those committed to improving themselves as climbers and as individuals"

A Message From the President (2024-25)

Thanks for looking at the website for the CU Boulder climbing team! We are a competitive rock climbing team that practices and competes both locally and nationally, and is committed to helping members grow their love for the sport. We practice primarily at the Spot Louisville, and have a semi-regular practice rotation through other Spot gyms, as well as ABC Kids Climbing and other local training facilities.

The CU Climbing team competes in the USA Climbing collegiate circuit in the Rocky Mountain division, competing with teams from schools across the front range, as well as those in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Montana. We have placed 2nd overall at the Collegiate National Championships for the past two years in a row, and have sent several members to the FISU World University Championships.

Our members come from varied climbing backgrounds, and as such, have varied climbing interests! We have members who love to compete, and attend USA Climbing collegiate events in addition to elite level events and local citizen’s competitions. We also have members who greatly enjoy climbing outside, and we try to host as many outdoor trips as possible throughout the school year, both around the front range and in other awesome places like Joe’s Valley, UT and Roy, NM.

Because of these diverse interests, and because many of our greater interests as a team are so involved with the climbing community, we strive to build this community as best we can. We love to meet people who are psyched on climbing and training for climbing, and want to create a team environment that allows all members to grow their climbing as they so choose, with an emphasis on competing. We also attempt to build the greater climbing community via outreach like volunteering at local youth and citizens competitions.

The quality of the CU Climbing community was what drew me to the team my freshman year, and is the reason for my investment in the team over my past three years at CU Boulder. I love training, competing, and just generally climbing with this amazing group of strong, psyched people! Many of my teammates have had an immeasurable impact on both my climbing and my life as an individual, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunities that team has granted me. I strive to ensure that the team can have such a positive impact on anyone else who wants to be a part of it!
