2024-25 Board of Directors

Mikhael Douglass

Meet the new CU Climbing Team Board of Directors!

We're super stoked to announce our Board of Directors for the 2024-25 academic year. These individuals are responsible for meeting weekly to delegate and discuss team matters and ensure our team can continue living on for future athletes.

Each year applications open for board positions and current team members are encouraged and invited to apply for a board position. The team then votes on who they believe is the best fit for each position. The previous year's Board members then internally decide who will be the next President and Vice President - as one year of experience on the Board is required for those positions.

More details about Board Positions and responsibilities can be found in our Bylaws, linked on this website.

Without further adieu, please enjoy the bios of our 2024-25 Board Members!

President: Tate Jennings

Hey everyone! My name is Tate and I'm the President of the climbing team for the 2024-2025 season. I'm a senior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in French. I've been climbing for about 12 years, and competing for all of those years! I absolutely love being part of a competitive climbing team, and some of my coolest experiences on the team have been at comps. I'm also stoked to get outside, though, and have made most of my best memories around the campfire in Roy, NM chatting with my teammates. My biggest goal for this year is to develop a team of high level athletes that can contribute to the greater climbing community, and share some psych along the way!

Vice President and Treasurer: Anna Clausi

My name is Anna Clausi and I’m super stoked to get to serve on the CU Climbing Team Board for a third year! I’m currently a senior here at CU and am pursuing my undergraduate degree in Accounting. Climbing has been a major part of my life for the past 5 years and has introduced me to the people I consider a second family. I’m continuously inspired by the level of dedication and drive that this team has and am looking forward to another year of growth! Seeing others find their home on team and further develop their love for climbing is what makes me want to give back through my time on board. This year, I’m getting excited to find new ways to make our community as supportive and psyched as possible through climbing trips and new training opportunities! I’m so thankful for the memories I’ve made these past 3 years and know they will stick with me forever! I have so much love for this team and can’t wait for another stellar year of CuClimbs!

Competition Director: Tessa Raines

Hi! My name is Tessa Raines and I am the Competition Coordinator for the 2024-2025 season! I am a third year student double majoring in Biochemistry and Business as well as a minor in sports media. I have been competitively climbing for about 9 years and love the competitive atmosphere. I am so excited to be the competition coordinator this year and work with USA Climbing and local gyms to get you all psyched on competitions. Some of my favorite things about CU Climbing Team have been the girls climbing trip to Roy, NM as well as the amazing friendships I have made and will cherish forever.

Sponsorship Director: Caroline Jusko

Hi! I’m Caroline and I’m a senior in the Environmental Studies program at CU. I got excited about climbing by doing summer camps at my home gym. I then started taking climbing more seriously in high school and wanted to continue into college. Joining the CU climbing team has been one of my favorite experiences at CU. I love going on camping trips with the team and goofing around in nature. I’m so excited for this upcoming climbing season!

Training Director: Chris Cardella

Hey there guys! I'm Chris, the Training Director for the 2024-2025 season. I am a sophomore majoring in Integrative Physiology. I have been climbing for roughly four years now, which has given me an amazing outlet to an incredible community, great competitions, and lifelong friends. My favorite part about team is belonging to a group of such dedicated and likeminded individuals. Being a part of team allowed me to meet some of my best friends and climbing partners! Other than climbing, I am a dedicated mountaineer, and the certified team meathead, a.k.a. I am always looking for a time and place to go lift weights, especially bench press. Overall, I am looking forward to a fantastic year, with great people, and one of my biggest goals is to help make our team stronger and more versatile, and to also build a more connected, tight knit community.

Fundraising Director: Matthew Sherman

Hello! My name is Matthew Sherman and I am the Fundraising Director for the 2024/25 school year. I am starting my senior year with intent to complete a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 5 years. I began climbing and competing when I was 13 and found an increased love for it over Covid. I had friends who were apart of the climbing team here at CU and they encouraged me to check it out and I have never regretted my decision to join. My fondest memories from college come from competitions, outdoor climbing trips, and playing Mario Kart with my teammates. I am excited for another great year with my favorite people!

Community Director: Nora Bruxvoort

Hello! I'm Nora, I am a sophomore at CU studying environmental engineering. I've been climbing for close to 9 years now and competing for the about same. I'm looking forward to comps this year and some sick outdoor trips!

Social Media Director: Mikhael Douglass

My name is Mikhael Douglass and I am the social media director for the 24-25 academic year. This is my second year serving as social media director. I'm psyched to increase the visibility and publicity of our team and look forward to working with other brands, gyms, and social media accounts to show how awesome our team is. I have been climbing competitively since I was 9 (second year D) and just started competing in the open circuit this past year. My favorite part about the team is learning more about what drives people into this sport and how to be better competitors, athletes, teammates, and people. I am looking forward to Denver Bouldering Club's BIPOC competition this year and meeting our new teammates.
